2021 Rejuvenation Project

From midday April 1, 2021 the Mount Hot Pools re-opened its doors, in time for the Easter long weekend and April school holidays, after being closed for 10-weeks.

The team at the Mount Hot Pools and dedicated contractors worked hard during the closure, completely a large amount of remedial work, including:

  • Maintenance to the plant room, bore pump and pools
  • Replacement of underground pipes to fix leaks
  • Resurfacing the children’s pool
  • Re-tiling of the private pools
  • New non-slip flooring around the external pools

Façade Facelift

Along with the essential maintenance work the Mount Hot Pools façade also had a revitalization; to align the external appearance of this iconic facility with its reputation as a Mount Maunganui destination.

The scheduled remedial and maintenance closure takes place approximately every 3-4 years to ensure the proper upkeep of this iconic facility. The facility closes completely as many of the tasks undertaken during this time requires the operating system to be off and all pools to be emptied for an extended period.

Closures are always scheduled for quietest time of year. For the Mount Hot Pools that’s in summer when most locals and visitors head to the beach over soaking in a hot pool (43% less than peak times).

The improvements and maintenance work undertaken during the 2021 closure will help ensure the Mount Hot Pools can continue to be recognised for exceptional service and quality.
